I’m going to show a bit of favoritism here. I’ve been messing around with the Kindle and Kindle apps for various devices for a few years now. And in my humble opinion, this is the easiest, cleanest, quickest way to read your stories.

I tried iBooks because I have an iPhone/iPad, but it irked me because to get a story into iBooks, you first have to email it to yourself on your iWhatever, then open it using iBooks, which fails about half the time for me. Then if you move from iPad to iPhone, it doesn’t keep your place in your book and you have to find where you are. Annoying. I’ve stopped using iBooks completely.

How To:
Whether you’re using one of the Kindle devices or running the Kindle app on your Android/iPad/iPhone/iWhatever, here’s how to get your stories sent directly to your Kindle.

  1. Add storymaster@the-code-monkey.com to your approved document email list.
    • Go to amazon.com and select “Manage Your Kindle”.

    • Under Your “Kindle Account”, select “Personal Document Settings”.
    • Under “Approved Personal Document E-mail List”, click “Add a new approved e-mail address” and add storymaster@the-code-monkey.com.
    • Note your kindle email address for your device. It’ll be listed under “Send-to-Kindle E-Mail Settings”.

If you have more than one device registered with Amazon, one email address will be the base one for your entire cloud and the others will have a number after them that looks like ‘youremail_123@kindle.com’. I recommend using the one without the additional numbers.
  2. Go to StoryMaster and submit your request. Be sure to put in the Kindle email address you noted in the step above for the email and select the save format to be MOBI.
  3. Now wait for your story to show up! It shouldn’t take long if the StoryMaster server isn’t busy. The story will show up in your cloud.
